Children’s Literature Expert Touran Mirhadi Passes Away

The veteran expert in children’s literature Touran Mirhadi, 89, passed away on November 8, in a Tehran Hospital.

On September 17, Mirhadi suffered a stroke and went into coma. She was is hospital for almost two months and died on Tuesday, ISNA reported.

A researcher and co-founder of the Children’s Book Council, she devoted over 50 years of her career to development of children’s literature and education in Iran.

Born in the northern city of Bandar Anzali, Mirhadi studied biology in Tehran University and continued her studies in Europe in educational sciences and psychology.

She was nominated by the Institute for Research on the History of Children’s Literature in Iran, for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for several years.
