In the national competition section, there are 65 narrative films, 26 documentaries, 21 experimental films and 35 animations, each having a separate award.

Over 80 films are present in the international competition section and an equal number or more will be shown in the non-competition sections as well.

Movies from over 40 countries including France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Brazil, Canada, US, UK, Japan, Italy, Poland, Russia, Turkey, India and Lebanon are competing.

This year’s festival poster has the image of Abbas Kiarostami, as a tribute to the well-known Iranian auteur who passed away in July, as suggested by Farid Farkhondehkish, the festival director.

The festival is organized by The Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS, a member of International Short Film Conference), which is affiliated to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

The one-week event will run through November 14.
