Academic Books will be held from November 14-18 at the Imam Khomeini Grand Musalla (prayer ground) in Tehran.
The fair is being organized by the Cultural Association of Foreign Publishers in Iran, a Tehran-based non-profit organization established in 2004. The event is said to be the second largest book fair in Iran after the annual Tehran International Book Fair.
Concurrently, the first Special Exhibition of Book Distribution and Sale will also be held at the same venue. Sponsored by the private sector, it is organized under the auspices of the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry and Musalla officials.
The two events intend to create a link between publishers, distributors of domestic and foreign books, as well as end-users who are usually faculty members, students and researchers, ISNA reported.
All the books at the 14th international fair would be original, meaning they are not offset-printed or published without copyright. The books will be in the original language of publication including English, Arabic, German and French, and published after 2013.
The showcased books are to be offered at discounts starting from 10% up to 70%. The fair will be open from 10 am-6 pm.
The list of the books, as well as that of the participating publishers, is available on the website of the Cultural Association of Foreign Publishers in Iran (anjomannasheran.com).
According to the website, over 80% of the foreign books used by universities, research institutes, professors and other readers in Iran are supplied by the association either via book fairs or in regular sales.
