Iranian graphic designer Mehdi Mahdian, 35, has won an award for his poster at the Mexican poster biennial, held September 29-October 2.
Mahdian, a graduate of Tehran Art University added to his list of awards the Special Prize and Plaque of Honor granted by the 14th edition of the International Poster Biennial in Mexico (BICM 2016), Category A.
His poster entry was titled ‘Epopee Reading: Rostam and Sohrab Dramatic Quote’. It had been commissioned for a cultural event at Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran, ILNA reported.
Other winners of the event are Alain Le Quernec, 71, from France; Pekka Loiri, 69, from Finland; and Jan Bajtlik, 26, from Poland.
Since 2006, Mahdian is a member of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society.
In 2012, he received the prestigious Icograda Award of Excellence from the 23rd Warsaw International Biennale.
He has worked as art director with Iranian Academy of Arts, Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Tehran University of Art, Iranian Artists Forum and the Tehran Municipality.
