The top medal in the field of culture and art at the 7th International Congress of Professor Yalda Foundation was awarded to Professor Jalal Khaleghi Motlagh for his global contribution to introducing and teaching Persian literature.
The ceremony was held on October 20 at the Avicenna Conference Hall of Tehran University of Medical Sciences where Khaleghi Motlagh, an Iranian professor of Persian literature in German universities, was conferred the medal, IBNA reported.
The Iranian scientific-cultural foundation based in Germany, is named after Professor Alireza Yalda, 86, an expert in infectious diseases.
Tributes were also paid to prominent Iranian scholars and university professors active in various fields of medical sciences and culture.
Khaleghi Motlagh has spent almost 50 years in teaching and promoting Persian language, literature and culture. He is also an expert in Ferdowsi’s epic book Shahnameh (Book of Kings).
He delivered a lecture at the ceremony on the subject of ‘Remedy and Treatment in Shahnameh’ which was warmly received by the audience.
Yalda is a distinguished professor at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences and is the author of seven books and has edited or co-edited over ten books.
An internationally respected physician and professor, he is the recipient of over 20 awards spanning from teaching excellence to national recognition for his outstanding services and contributions.
