Iranian cultural attaché office in Austria took part in the seventh ‘Book Vienna’ international fair held from November 13-16 and exhibited various Iranian books and handicrafts.

The cultural office showcased more than 100 different books covering Iran’s history, Iranian arts, Islamic studies and children books in Persian, English and German languages, MNA reported.

The stall was decorated with beautiful posters of Iranian cities and monuments and visitors were gifted with postcards, magazines and pocket Qur’ans. Persian handicrafts were also displayed at the stall which attracted many people including students.

The Vienna book fair is considered one of the biggest book and literature events in Austria. Held in an 8,800 sq meter hall at the Messe Wien Exhibition Center, the exhibition offered newly published books in six categories of fiction, popular non-fiction, cooking, children and adolescent books and travelogues.

The exhibition saw 330 publishers from 10 countries participate in its latest edition and recorded 34,000 visitors.

More than 300 programs were scheduled during the exhibition including readings, discussions, debates, cooking shows and quizzes. The exhibition offered the opportunity for literature fans to meet their favorite authors and join in discussions with them.

‘The Long Night of Books’ was the name of an event which took place on the eve of the exhibition and brought together celebrities and more than 2500 literature fans in a spectacular fest.
