National libraries of Iran and South Korea signed a memorandum of understanding on September 9 to promote cultural ties.
The MoU was signed in Seoul at a meeting between Shahram Yousefifar, document deputy of the National Library of Iran and Lim Wonsun, chief executive and director of the National Library of Korea.
The ceremony was also attended by Iran’s Ambassador to South Korea Hassan Taherian, IRNA reported.
As per the agreement, the two sides will share and access each other’s cultural, social and historical information.
Part of the memorandum is titled Window on Iran, Window on South Korea. It is a mutual agreement to establish exclusive space at the National Library of South Korea for Iran and an exclusive room for South Korea at the National Library of Iran, a cultural tradition observed between national libraries across the world.
The two sides agreed to expand mutual cultural services within the framework of the MoU. Iran’s room at the Korean library will have 300 books on diverse subjects. The books will help strengthen bilateral cultural interaction and introduce Iran, Islam and the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
