'With Grotowski: Theater Is Just a Form', a book on dynamics of theater by English theater and film director Peter Brook, 90, will be debated on September 4 at Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran.

The book has been translated into Persian by theater actor Mohammad Reza Ali-Akbari, 34. It is an absorbing collection of short texts by Brook, in which he examines the innovative approach and productions of Polish theater director and theorist Jerzy Marian Grotowski (1933-1999), and its impact on theater.

The debate at the IAF starts at 5 pm. Ali-Akbari will participate along with theater director, theoretician and translator Ali Akbar Alizad, 42, and playwright, translator, dramaturge and theater critic Reza Sarvar, 39, Honaronline reported.

The book's introduction says Grotowski recognized the double nature of theater forms. His quest was to guide others, to help them discover in exact, detailed and repeatable ways what practices make this dual nature possible. In this way, he could develop a craft that could be transmitted directly, from person to person, a craft that examined the relationship between impulse and action.
