Two hundred billion rials ($5.65 million) will be spent on the establishment of new, as well as completion, of 58 public libraries in 24 provinces by the Barekat Foundation.

The extensive project will be conducted in cooperation with the Iran Institute of Public Libraries, IRNA reported.

Under the project, some of the provinces where the lack of public libraries is more marked, such as East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Ardebil, Alborz, Ilam, South Khorasan, North Khorasan, Khorasan Razavi, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Semnan, new libraries will be constructed.

Barekat Foundation, affiliated to the Setad which is a special office for executing the decrees of Imam Khomeini in helping the underprivileged, was founded nine years ago to provide infrastructure, water and power, and establish educational facilities and healthcare centers in less developed regions.

Operating under the supervision of the Leader Ayatollah Khamenei's Office, the foundation has undertaken hundreds of development projects in the country, namely building schools, roads, low-cost residential units and mosques.
