ICFI Prepares for Beijing, Moscow Book Fairs

Iranian publications will participate in two international book fairs in China and Russia in summer.

Iran Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) announced the participation of Iranian publishing firms in the two international book events.

The Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF) is scheduled from August 24-28. It is the 20th edition of BIBF since its inception in 1986, ILNA reported.

The children’s section of the BIBF will host 40 works honored by the 2015 Biennial of Illustration Bratislava, Slovakia, as well as 60 other illustrations regarded among the best of Chinese works. Based on the discussions with BIBF, five Iranian works in children’s book illustration will be presented in the section as well. Two Iranian illustrators sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, will attend the Beijing fair.

The 29th Moscow International Book Fair is scheduled from September 7-11, where the publishing industry of Iran will be introduced in bilingual brochures in English and Russian.

The brochures enlist a number of book databases in Iran, including Iran Book House (ketab.org.ir), National Library and Archives Organization of Iran (old.nlai.ir) and the Tehran Book Garden that will be completed soon.

At the upcoming book fairs, Iran will create awareness about its book awards, publishers associations and literary agencies, as well as supportive programs for publishers.

The Tehran International Book Fair has signed memorandums of understanding with both the Beijing and Moscow book fairs, to provide pavilions free of charge for Iranian publishers.
