The 83rd Persian Language and Literature Refresher Course for international students will commence in Tehran from August 4, said Gholamali Haddad Adel, head of Saadi Foundation.

A total of 514 people from 41 countries had applied for the Persian language courses. After a review of the applications, 200 international students were accepted. The classes are to be conducted in cooperation with the Allameh Tabatabai University in Tehran, he said at a press conference on Tuesday, YJC reported.

The university dormitory will provide lodging for the applicants who come from Pakistan, India, Tajikistan, England, Germany, Algeria, China, the US and other countries.

"There are over 200 Persian language classes being conducted in various cities across the world by the foundation," said Haddad Adel.

Among its functions are to provide educational facilities for those who want to learn Persian. The foundation has also developed software for the purpose.

Various courses are organized by the foundation, the longest of which are summer programs, said Haddad Adel who is also the head of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature.

Students will attend the classes at five different levels for seven weeks. Sightseeing programs of recreational centers, industrial facilities and historical sites are on the agenda.

"Our main purpose is to promote Persian language and introduce Iranian culture and lifestyle," he said.

The courses are useful for international students who are majoring in oriental studies, wherein they should choose between the four languages of Arabic, Persian, Hebrew and Turkic. Saadi Foundation courses help students who opt for Persian language as their major.
