Journalist Najafi Passes Away

Senior journalist Hamid Najafi, 85, managing director and editor-in-chief of the English-language newspaper Kayhan International, passed away in Tehran on Friday, July 1.

Najafi was suffering from kidney cancer and was ailing for the past two months.

For the past two decades, he headed the newspaper, one of the oldest English-language dailies published from Tehran, and held the post till the end.

Najafi was also an expert in commercial advertisement, ISNA reported.

For several years, he taught English language at the University of Islamic Republic of the Iran Air Force (IRIAF). He was also a former manager in the National Industries Organization.

His funeral will take place on Saturday (July 2) and he will be buried at the Behesht-e-Zahra Cemetery in south Tehran.
