Over 23,000 books were donated by several publishing companies to children’s hospitals across the country as part of a charity campaign.

The campaign ‘dobareh_mikhanam@’ (I read again) was initiated by Health and Art (HEART) Group, a NGO affiliated to the Universal Scientific Education and Research Network (USERN) whose prize awarding festival will be hosted by Tehran University of Medical Sciences on November.

In cooperation with the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), HEART promoted the social media campaign to provide libraries in pediatric wards with fresh supplies of books, ISNA reported.

The campaign gained popularity in a special program titled ‘Mehr and Niayesh’ (Compassion and Prayer) organized by the IIDCYA on June 15-24, at the institute’s Cultural and Artistic Center in Tehran’s Hejab street, where HEART’s pavilion was successful in promoting the charitable cause.

Writers and illustrators of children’s books attended the program and several of them signed the donated books.

By the end of the program, over 23,000 books were donated to children’s hospitals, said Bahareh Jahandoust, manager of HEART pavilion.

The most generous contribution came from the institute and Abrang publications, each giving away 5,000 volumes, followed by Honar-Abi publications with 2,250 volumes, and Teymourzadeh publications with 1,540 books.

There were many other publishers too who participated in the benevolent act, but preferred to stay anonymous.
