The documentary movie by Iranian director Mohammad Ehsani ‘Gonbad-e-Mina’ bagged the third prize at the International Archaeology Film Festival held in the city of Split, Croatia, November 6-7.
The festival comprising films on archaeology, cultural heritage, monument protection and anthropology films was organized by the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments.
Ehsani’s film focuses on the harm caused by domestic and international visitors to Iranian historical monuments by inscribing mementos on them, an act he refers to as “vandalism”.
‘Gonbad-e-Mina’, produced by the documentary team of Iran TV Channel 1 had previously won the Best Documentary in the Social Section and Best Mid-length Documentary awards at the sixth Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Vérité. The 8th edition of the festival organized by the Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) will be held on November 30 till December 7 in Tehran.
