The stage adaptation of ‘Hunger Games’ is coming with innovative and immersive staging techniques.
According to PRNewswire, the theatrical experience will begin performances in summer 2016 in a new purpose-built theater adjacent to London’s Wembley Stadium.
The best-selling ‘Hunger Games’ trilogy of novels, penned by Suzanne Collins, has sold more than 80 million copies. In a dystopian future, the totalitarian nation of Panem is divided between 12 districts and the ‘Capitol’. Each year two children from each district are selected by lottery to participate in the games, a televised death match.
The books are currently being developed into a series of films, with the first two in the franchise having already grossed more than $1.5 billion at the box office. The latest installment, Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1, will be released worldwide on November 21, starring Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and featuring Tony winner Patina Miller.
