A play, titled ‘Halt’, by theater director and playwright Arash Pour-Mahak is currently on stage at Hafez Theater Hall in Tehran.

An action-based performance, the play has less dialogue compared to normal plays, Honaronline quoted the director as saying.

The setting and decor is minimal and the theme is on the concept of violence against women. “I decided on the subject to give an opportunity to theater enthusiasts to ponder on the matter without any gender bias.”

The issue is important as violence against women and girls is a grave violation of human rights that threatens women’s health and their social and economic well-being.

“My focus in on action more than dialogue because emotions create a better rapport between the performers and the audience; in some scenes, the actors are constantly improvising, based on the impressions and feedbacks received from the viewers,” Pour-Mahak added.

“As a fusion work, the performers create paintings offhand, again based on the feedback from the audience, overall making the performance a multi-dimensional work of art.”

The 40-minute show has Hossein Sepehr-Nejad and Darya Moradi-Dasht as the only members of the cast.

It will run through June 20 at the venue located at Ostad Shahriar St., Hafez Avenue.
