Directed by Iranian filmmaker Jamshid Mahmoudi, ‘A Few Cubic Meters of Love’ will be screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa.

Having participated in local and international film festivals of Fajr in Iran, Busan in South Korea, and Chicago in the US, this is the third time the movie is being shown in a foreign festival, ISNA reported.

Although made in Iran, the film has been selected as the Afghan entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Oscar Academy Awards.

The story happens in a shanty town encampment comprising sheet metals and abandoned tires. A romance blooms between Saber, an Iranian worker, and Marona, the daughter of an illegal Afghan laborer following some chaste encounters. But faced with the threat of Marona’s deportation and the prejudice of their communities, can their dreams of marriage be realized? The film is a bittersweet tale of pure love and racial tolerance.

The IFFI aims at providing a common platform for the cinemas of the world to project the excellence of the film art, and promote friendship and cooperation among peoples of the world. The IFFI’s founding principles centre on discovery, promotion and support of filmmaking of all genres – thus bringing together the diversity of the forms, aesthetics and contents.

The 45th IFFI is slated for November 20-30.
