Iranian play ‘Bleach’ co-directed by Mahdi Kushki and Sahra Fat’hi, will take the stage at Tehran’s Mostaqel Theater Hall from June 5, after its successful performance on April 23 at Toronto’s Richmond Hill Center for the Performing Arts.

A long monologue, the play is based on a true crime story, which deals with economic problems and other misadventures in the society. It is also considered a documentary theater, a genre that uses dramatic representation of societal forces through the use of pre-existing documentary material as the source of the script, Honaronline quoted Kushki as saying.

The story in the documentary genre comes close with reality, he said. “What happens in theater is simulation. There are details in the setting that put reality and illusion together in a way that viewers understand the issue with clarity, because on stage it is never possible to create an exact replica with what happens in the real world.”

Fat’hi will accompany the cast in the performance, which comprises renowned TV, cinema and theater actors Setareh Pesyani, Leili Rashidi, and Navid Mohammadzadeh.

Mohammadzadeh won the best supporting actor award for ‘Life+1 Day’ at the 34th Fajr Film festival in February, Rashidi, daughter of the veteran actor Davood Rashidi, is a popular actor who has acted in many TV series, films and plays and Pesyani is a talented actress, known for ‘The Nameless Alley’ (2016) and ‘Lantouri’ (2016).

The play was among the winners of the 3rd Monoleev Independent Festival in Tehran (2013), which is a specific event for monologue and monodrama plays.

Pop singer and musician Xaniar Khosravi has created the music for the play. It will be on stage through June 20 at the venue, located at No. 50, Zand-e Vakil St., Razi Ave, Vali-e Asr Avenue.
