‘The Hard Dream’, a short film by Behrouz Bagheri won the Best Animation Award at 2014 Noor Iranian Film Festival (NIFF) in Los Angeles.

Bagheri’s second production in short films is a drama recounting the story of a robot working in a garage. The robot, unhappy with the monotonous work and its superior’s domineering attitude, wishes to become human. This initiates its escape from the garage to pursue the path of its dreams, MNA reported.

The animation has been showcased at 2014 Fuencaliente Rural Film Festival in Spain, CutOut Fest International Animation Festival in Mexico as well as the London Film Festival.

Bagheri said the animation has so far participated in 93 international film festivals and won 12 awards, including a highly prestigious award at the 2014 Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival (SMHAFF).

He said the animation had cost him “as much as a feature film” for having used the most advanced cinematic technology, and “it was completely self-funded.”

NIFF aims at cultivating and promoting Iranian-American talent in Hollywood by bridging the gap between Iranian and non-Iranian communities. Its 7th edition was held last month.
