Prominent Iranian actress and filmmaker Niki Karimi will be honored at the 20th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), slated from November 10-17.

The festival’s ‘New Horizon’ section will feature films by Karimi, who is also one of the jury members of the competitive section on women directors, IRNA reported.

Karimi has performed in over 25 films and bagged numerous domestic and international awards.

She also sat in jury committees at many international events including Cannes, Locarno, Damascus, Rennes, Delhi Osian, Reykjavik, Vesoul and Berlin film festivals.

Her performance in ‘Sara’, by Dariush Mehrjuii, won her the Best Actress Award of the San Sebastian and Nantes film festivals in 1992.

She made her first directorial debut with ‘One Night’ in 2004 and her second film ‘A Few Days Later’ (2006) premiered at the Rome Film Festival.

Karimi’s latest film ‘Final Whistle’ has been screened in numerous international festivals till date.

The KIFF is an annual film festival held in Kolkata, India.
