A joint Iran and Germany theater production ‘The Border’ will start performance on Thursday, (May 19), at Tehran’s Andisheh Cultural Center.

Directed by Jafar Mahyari (Iran) and Britta Schramm (Germany), the play depicts the conflict between two groups over the borders across their territories, but after a series of events, peace and friendship between them ultimately prevails, Mehr News Agency reported.

The play highlights war and boundaries that have separated human beings. Theseboundaries make people disrespect each others’ opinion leading to a constant struggle in their lives.

Mahyari, head of ‘Zendegi’ (life) Theater Company, has written the script. Noting that the play has a cosmopolitan concept, he said, “In the play, the essence and necessity of borders is brought into question and is evaluated from a moral and humanitarian point of view.”

‘Border’ has no dialogue and relies on movements only. “We have highlighted the use of body language and the combination of light, music, attires and décor has made the play more like an art performance,” he added.

The four-member cast includes Iranian actors Saeed Abakand Anahita Safikhani as well as Bernd Stollberger and Kiristina Forster from Germany.

The play will be on stage until May 27 at the cultural center located in Andisheh Park, Shariati Street. Its performance in Germany is set for July in Berlin.
