A calligraphy exhibition by Iranian veteran artists opened on Sunday (May 15) at Bahman Complex’s Sooreh Gallery in Sanandaj City, center of Kordestan Province.

The series features 38 works of Shikasta Nastaliq (Broken Nastaliq) by skilled artists, including several students of master of the field Mojtaba Malekzadeh, Honaronline quoted head of the city’s Art Forum, Amin Moradi, as saying.

Broken Nastaliq is a calligraphy style, successor of Nastaliq, which is traditionally the predominant style in Persian calligraphy, developed in Iran in the 14the and 15th centuries.

The participant artists come from provinces Fars, Sistan and Balouchestan, Mazandaran, Qom, Qazvin, Zanjan and more. Two calligraphy masters Malekzadeh and Ali Shirazi, who were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibit, hold related workshops for the enthusiast visitors and the participating artists, to make them familiar and help them improve their skill in the field.

The exhibit will receive enthusiasts until May 21 at the venue.
