Animation Scoops Italian Award

An Iranian short animation has won a top prize at the 17thInternational Short Film Festival ‘Corti da Sogni-Antonio Ricci’ in Italy.

‘Scarecrow’s Heart’ directed by Behzad Kazzazi scooped the Giuseppe Maestri Award for the Best Short Animationat the event, held in Ravenna, Italy, April 27-30, Mehr News Agency reported.

Kazzazi, who was not present at the award ceremony, sent a video message online thanking the jury for selecting his animation as the winner. In the message, he said he believed that throughout history, artists have alwaystried to bring the peoples of the world togetherthrough their works and creations,and help them better understand other nations.

“Artists have generated an interest in peoples of different races, ethnicities and languages to unite and preserve human values and lead the way of peace and friendship in the world,” Kazzazi said in the video.

The 12-minute animated film is a product of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) which has so far been screened in Holland Animation Film Festival, the Netherlands, Bucharest Next International Film Festival, Romania, and Children Animation and TV Film Festival,Italy.
