The 13th Actor’s Festival, one of the most important events for theater artists in Iran slated for April 30, will choose the best theater actors of the year and present them awards.
Noted actor and screenwriter Behzad Farahani is the secretary of the annual celebration this year. The festival is to be held at Tehran City Theater hall, Mehr News Agency reported.
A 170-member jury committee reviewed over 400 theater shows staged during the last Iranian calendar year that ended on March 19 and has shortlisted 24 works.
In the final selection 7 candidates, including three best theater actors, three actresses and one young actor, will be chosen by the jury on April 26, and the awards will be conferred at the ceremony.
Reading the message of the International Theatre Day (March 27), statement of the Actors’ Community at the Iranian Theater Forum, selecting the best show of the year by the jury and music performances are the other programs on the festival agenda, said Farahani.
Two veteran actors from Tehran and two from other cities would also be honored on the occasion.
“Tehran-based theater artists Akbar Zanjanpour and Sirous Ebrahimzadeh, veteran actor Naser Jafari from Ardebil Province and Sara Tavakoli from Hormozgan Province will be honored at the ceremony,” said festival director, Houshmand Honarkar.
Kurdish Music Group ‘Zhiwaar’ will spice up the event by performing several pieces.
