Acclaimed HK Filmmaker to Attend 34th FIFF

Renowned Hong Kong film director Andrew Lau will visit Tehran as a guest at the 34th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF).

According to the public relations office of the festival, he will hold a workshop and give a speech at the Faculty of Cinema and Theater, Tehran University of Art.

Lau started his artistic activity in the 1980s as a cinematographer and won many prizes in the field. In the early 1990s he started directing and created the acclaimed trilogy ‘Infernal Affairs’ that Martin Scorsese in 2006 remade as ‘Departed’, which won an Oscar.

As a director, Lau has won many awards like Best Director at Hong Kong Film Festival, Blue Ribbon Awards in Japan and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival among others. He has made 45 films, produced 33 films, and is a cinematographer of more than 50 films.

The 34th FIFF will be held April 20-25 at Charsou Cineplex.
