Iranian female rock climber Farnaz Esmaeilzadeh received a silver medal in the 2016 Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) National Speed Climbing Championships in Central Saanich, Canada.

In the games, held on April 9, in different sections, Esmaeilzadeh came second in the Women’s Open division.

In speed climbing, climbers should ascend a 15-meter high, internationally certified route of holds in the shortest time possible, independentsportsnews.com reported.

Esmaeilzadeh, 27, was the winner of the 2015 Canadian Nationals Female Open division and has also won several medals in Asian competitions.

She has been rock climbing since she was 13 and has competed in two World Cups held by the International Federation of Sport Climbing and is ranked 21st worldwide in women’s speed climbing.

She also gives climbing lessons in order to raise money to take part in international competitions.
