The first edition of the Persian Gulf Regional Fashion and Clothing Festival opened in the southern city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan Province on Monday (Feb. 8).

The Iranian Working Group for Organizing Fashion and Clothing is hosting the event as part of the Ten Day Dawn Festivities to mark the 37th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Designers and officials from Khuzestan, Sistan-Baluchestan and Bushehr Provinces are participating, Honaronline reported.

The festival focuses on Iranian-Islamic identity and local and traditional apparel styles and provides the grounds for joint cultural and economic relations in the regional apparel industry.

Workshops, separate exhibits of designs by participants and conferences are part of the event. The best 50 designs among the exhibited models will be selected and the top ones awarded.

The festival runs through February 12 at the Shahid Avini exhibition hall.
