Book of Illustrators in 2 Volumes

The Annual Book of Illustrators (ABI) will publish works of artists in two volumes in collaboration with Pouyanama publishing house in its 2016 edition.
Illustrations will be focused on social demand, “especially issues concerning today’s modern society,” said Mohsen Hassanpour, chairman of the board of directors of Iran’s Illustrators Society (IIS), at a press conference, Honaronline reported.
ABI’s project manager, Fazlollah Tabatabaei and artistic director Pejman Rahimizadeh, who has been nominated for the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Awards, were also present at the press briefing.
“In the last three editions of the project, the books mostly highlighted children’s book illustrations, and other genres were limited,” said Tabatabaei. In the fourth year, the book of illustrators is to be published in two sections and in two volumes. The first volume will, as usual, be focused on children’s illustrations with comic strips and farce stories.”
However, works on various genres of illustration will be collected in the second volume. “The second book includes scientific-education, history, advertisements, billboards and labels,” he said.
Graphic design, compact disk cover, poster, pre-production illustration for animation and films are among other fields.
The Illustrators’ Society is planning to hold related workshops to train young enthusiasts. “This could help link the education system and the job market.”
The opening of the Iranian Museum of Graphic Design at Tehran Police Park in the Tehranpars neighborhood in 2014 was an achievement of the IIS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Tehran Municipality.
“The museum is a safe place to preserve and exhibit graphic works of art,” Hassanpour said.
In addition, the society has launched its new website where the latest news on visual arts and illustration fields is published. “We are trying to become a center for research to help students of art.”
