The 12th edition of the Persian Language Olympiad was held at Moscow State University’s acclaimed Faculty of Asian and African studies, on January 22.

Over 50 Russian students of Persian language competed, IRNA reported.

Writing abilities, listening, comprehension skills, grammar, translation skills from Persian to Russian and vice versa and classic and contemporary prosaic and poetic literature, were included in the competition.

The Persian language Olympiad is held annually in collaboration with the Iranian Embassy, the Iranology Foundation and the university’s Faculty of Asian and African studies. A 21-year-old student from Moscow won the earlier edition.

The closing ceremony on the same day introduced the top students of the contest, well-known Persian authors and university professors, as well as aspects of Persian literature.
