Iran cinema is present at the 14th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), India, with six short and feature films.
Having started on January 14, PIFF has given its silver screen to six Iranian film productions all highly acclaimed in the international scene in the past two years, Mehr News Agency reported.
In the Global Cinema section, feature films ‘I Am Not Angry!’ by Reza Dormishian, ‘Risk of Acid Rain’ by Behtash Sanaeiha, and ‘Avalanche’ by Moreza Farshbaf are competing with other titles.
Two more feature films, ‘Taxi’ by Jafar Panahi and ‘Immortal’ by Hadi Mohaqeq are screened in Asian Cinema and World Competition sections, respectively.
The short film ‘Elegy’ written and directed by Yousef Kargar, is participating in the Volkswagen International Student Competition: Live Action section.
Popularly known as the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra, Pune has been host to the PIFF since 2002. Its main goal is to attract the best filmmakers to the city, a task that it has achieved over the last 13 years.
Today PIFF is an important date on the calendar for film buffs, filmmakers and all from the film fraternity not only across Pune or India, but the globe.
A total of 285 movies and animations from around the world are being screened in various sections of this year’s edition. The event wraps up on January 21.
