The charity ‘Chain of Hope’ held its 2nd charity art auction on January 14-15 at Tehran Homa Hotel, to provide support to needy children.
Contemporary works of art by the late artist Hossein Qollar-Aqasi (1902-1966) and Seyyed Jalal Shabahangi, Masoud Behnam, Naser Palangi, Farideh Zariv and Kazem Chelipa went under the hammer, Honaronline reported.
Acclaimed film directors and screenwriters, Tahmineh Milan and Rakhshan Bani-E’temad and traditional vocalist, Hessameddin Seraj, were among the attendees.
Half of the proceeds of the auction will go to the charity institution to further their philanthropic activities.
The first edition of the event was held in 2012 and its remarkable success came as a pleasant surprise to many of the participant artists, with all of the 73 lots selling for a total of approximately $1.7 million, higher than the pre-sale estimates.
Founded in 2007, the charity provides medical care for underprivileged children, with the collaboration of a team of pediatricians and specialists in orthopedics and cardiology from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
The institution works in close cooperation with a French charity organization under the same name (originally La Chaine de l’Espoir), providing a platform for volunteer physicians to provide medical services in deprived areas.
