A painting collection, titled ‘Sightless Time’, by Narges Soleimanzadeh, has attracted a large number of art masters and enthusiasts to Elaheh Gallery in Tehran.

The artist’s second solo exhibition, the event displays a series of pop art, simultaneously portraying the darker and lighter sides of life.

Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the mid-1950s in Britain and in the late 1950s in the United States. Among the early artists that shaped the pop art movement were British Eduardo Paolozzi and American Jasper Johns.

Well-known art personalities Kambiz Derambakhsh, Yaqoub Emdadian, Nosratollah Moslemian, Bijan Birang, Majid Qannad, Hossein Maher, Fatemeh Emdadian, Reza Nami, Reza Hedayat and Mehrdad Khataei attended the exhibition opening on January 8, Honaronline reported.

“Vibrant colors of red, yellow and blue might leave a vivacious impression at first glance. However, after a moment of reflection and careful observation, the bitter truth of social malaise is seen,” the artist said.

Soleimanzadeh said the current paintings are more narrative in style than her previous works. “Previously I worked in a style juggling between figurative and abstract.”

“The artworks displayed are of high quality,” said Moslemian about the paintings, while Emdadian described the collection as “a fine start”, praising the artist’s courage in utilizing bright colors.

The exhibits will be on view through January 25 at the gallery, located at No.3, Amini Alley, Golfam St., Africa Boulevard.
