A selection of very short Danish films (60 seconds) will be screened on the sidelines of the 10th International 100-Second Film Festival in Tehran.

Following negotiations between the festival organizers and 60-second Film Festival in Denmark, more than 100 films, selected from the previous nine editions of the Danish festival will be shown in this year’s edition of the Iranian film event.

Movies in the festival are distributed via the media and cyberspace, thereby introducing young and talented artists to the art world, Mehr News Agency reported.

Considering the short duration of the movies (maximum 100 seconds), they would be considered as a pertinent media to transfer a specific concept or message. It may be feasible to compare these types of movies with commercial advertisements; however, the movies, including fiction, documentary and animation, have no commercial purpose but they aim to help promote the cultural development of the people.

Each year, 500 short films are selected for the festival. Filmmakers from over 60 countries have participated in the festival so far.

The first round of the festival was held in 2003 and since the 6th edition it has been organized at an international level.

The festival will award three films, selected by the jury, with a festival statuette, an honorary diploma, and $1000 cash prize.

Organized by Tehran’s Howzeh Honari (Art Bureau), the event is slated for March 2-4 in Tehran.
