‘Salaam Mumbai’ Shooting in February

The Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has issued the permit for the film ‘Salam Mumbai’, the first joint production between Iran and Bollywood after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Shooting for the movie, which is currently in its pre-production stage, will start in early February in India, Cinetmag.com reported.
Shooting on Indian location is subject to permission being granted by the central government’s I&B ministry.
The Iranian side of the permit was issued two years ago. However, following problems in the agreement between the two sides, the project was put on hold up until now.
But it was revived and facilitated through the cooperation of the Iranian Embassy in New Delhi, the Indian Embassy in Tehran, the Iranian film company ‘Sky Frame’ and the Indian firm ‘Motion Pictures’.
The cast includes a mix of Iranian and Indian actors including Mohammadreza Golzar, Benyamin Bahadori, Dia Mirza, Gulshan Grover and Behrouz Chahal.a
Produced by Javad Noruzbeigi from Iran and Indian producer Pahlaj Nihalani and directed by Iranian Ghorban Mohamadpur, 80% of ‘Salaam Mumbai’, will be shot in Indian locations and the remaining in Iran.
Benyamin is a famous Iranian pop singer who will experience his first performance in front of the camera in this film.
The joint production will please mostly its Indian audience, yet in a new way. Four music videos have been designed for the film.  Famous Indian singer Sonu Nigam and Benyamin will sing the clips.
A romance melodrama, the movie tells the story of an Iranian university student in Bombay studying medicine who falls in love with a rich Indian girl, but the girl’s family opposes their marriage, causing upheavals in their lives.
