Student Fashion Festival Opens

The first Student Festival of Fashion and Clothing opened Tuesday at Shariati Technical College in Tehran.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Fatemeh Mohajerani, college head and member of Fashion and Clothing Council, and Rouhollah Baqerzadeh, head of the publication house of the Commission of Fashion and Clothing Organization, Honaronline reported.

Around 100 selected designs among the 600 items submitted by students of fashion designing across the country are on display. The items include manteaues and chadors (outer garment or open cloak worn by many Iranian women).

There are also smaller stalls, exhibiting accessories made by the students, tailoring tools and magazines on apparel designs. Furthermore, training workshops at the venue familiarize enthusiasts with tailoring.

“All nations consider the clothing industry as a strategic sector,” said Baqerzadeh, adding that variety, design, branding, fashion and people’s taste are among the crucial factors that need to be considered.  The apparel market should move towards designing high quality and aesthetic outfits.

The festival will run through December 28.
