Iran’s freestyle team finished second at the 2014 World Wrestling Championships on Tuesday, IWN.ir reported.

In the two-day event, which was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Iranian freestyle wrestlers bagged three silver medals and two bronzes. On Monday, Hassan Rahimi claimed a bronze in the 57kg category; Mohammad-Hossein Askari-Mohammadian in the 86kg category did too.

Komeil Ghasemi won a silver medal in 125kg after losing to Turkey’s Taha Akgul in the final match.

On Tuesday, Masoud Esmaeilpour got a silver medal in the 61kg eight class. He lost to Azerbaijan’s Haji Aliyev in the final.

Ahmad Mohammadi was also defeated by Russian Soslan Ramonov in the final match of the 65kg and claimed silver.

Russia won the title of the 2014 World Wrestling Championships, which started on September 8 in Tashkent and will conclude on September 14. The competitions have brought more than 700 wrestlers from 80 countries together.
