Mirmiran Institute of Architecture has issued a call to Iranian architects to participate in the 10th edition of the architecture competition.
Titled ‘Architecture, From Earth to Skies’, the contest thematizes high buildings and vertical cities, Habib Qadirzadeh, event secretary, and member of the institute, was quoted by ISNA as saying.
The main theme of the contest is how high-rise buildings and skyscrapers should be designed and constructed based on the fundamental concepts of the profession, forms and patterns, and the rich experiences of veteran architects in the country.
“The designs should imply the connection between earth and sky, the flow of life in the height of the constructions, a combination of vertical and horizontal levels of urban patterns, and the influene of existing monumental and symbolic buildings,” Qadirzadeh added.
Coinciding with the competition the Mirmiran Architecture Award book will be unveiled. “The volume will contain works of art presented to the institute in the previous competitions,” he said.
Pointing to the increasing number of participants in the annual event, Qadirzadeh said it is “promising” and hoped that such events “will improve the art and profession of architecture among young talented enthusiasts.”
December 25 is the deadline for submission of works. The designs sent to the secretariat of the event will be judged and the results will be announced on April 21, 2016, the National Architecture Day.
The event will be held in collaboration of Pars University of Tehran and UNESCO chair in Architecture.
Founded under the name of Seyed Hadi Mirmiran, the late Iranian architect and manager of Naghsh-e-Jahan Pars Consulting Company, the Mirmiran Institute of Architecture held the first edition of the award ceremony in spring 2008, in tributes to the founder.
