Iranian film ‘Borderless’ by Amir-Hossein Asgari, was awarded at the 12th International Charity Festival ‘Radiant Angel’ in Moscow.

Competing with 57 films from 18 countries, Asgari’s first film won the special jury award at the closing ceremony of the festival on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

Receiving the prize on behalf of the director, Iran’s cultural attaché to Moscow Reza Maleki said, “Regarding the festival slogan ‘Virtuous Cinema Returns’, one of the main goals of the film is to explain peace and human values that the world needs today more than ever.”

The 100-minute drama/suspense follows the story of a boy who always goes fishing at a grounded ship in the border zone. He has transformed the ship into his place of seclusion and serenity. However, his peaceful life is disturbed when a stranger who claims the ship, appears.

The cast includes Alireza Baladi, Arash Mehraban, Arsalan Alipurian and Zeynab Naserpur.

The 2014 production has already attended several international festivals. The movie had its world premiere at the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival, last October, where it won the Best Asian Future Film Award. Last month it won the Best Premiere for Narrative Feature award at the 24th annual Heartland Film Festival, in Indiana, the US.

The Russian festival seeks to initiate and support the process of creating, producing and releasing spiritual and moral films.
