Artworks by 18 Iranian children and young adults from the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IDCYA), also known as Kanoon, received honorable mention and prizes at the International Visual Arts Competition ‘Louis Francois’ 2015.

The event took place earlier in Troyes, France for the age groups 3 -25 years, under the theme ‘Face or Mask!’ IRNA reported.

The statement of the event explained the title: “Meeting someone is first face to face. The voice, the intonations follows. The face can speak without words; it tells the emotions inherent in a person. The emotions that we read on faces are traditionally masked in all cultures in the world.” In other words, faces mask emotions.

Out of the 5,200 artworks from 53 countries, 18 Iranian artworks from among the 911 submitted, received prizes. Earlier in 2013, Kanoon participated with 768 artworks.

The UNESCO Louis François Center is an association complementary to public education and is registered as Popular Education by the French Ministry of Youth and Sports. The outcome of the center’s artistic activities is to create the international youth center for arts and techniques in Troyes.

All works sent, whether nominated or not, will remain the property of the center, its website states.
