The bestselling Iranian novel ‘Da’ written by Seyedeh Azam Hosseini is slated to hit the bookstores in Spanish language.

The book is in the final stages of translation and will be released next year, head of Spanish department at Tehran’s Art Bureau Najmeh Shobeiri said.

‘Da’ contains recollections of the author’s sister Seyedeh Zahra Hosseini during the Iraqi invasion of Khoramshahr in the early days of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war. The book narrates a true story of a teenager who experienced the early days of the war in Khoramshahr, MNA reported.

 English Version

The English version of Hosseini’s memoir was recently unveiled at a ceremony at the bureau.

The book was translated into English by U.S. scholar Paul Sprachman under the title of ‘One Woman’s War: Da (Mother)’ published by Mazda Publishers in the United States.

The publication of the book will further pave the way for scholarly and intellectual figures within North America to become better familiar with the truth behind the imposed war, said a bureau official.

First published in 2008 by Sureye Mehr Publication Company, Da was one of the best sellers at Tehran’s 23rd International Book Fair. The Persian version of the book has since hit its 150th edition. The widespread public reception proves the cultural significance of Iran’s sacred defense, a term used for the 8-year war.

The book has been translated into Urdu as well and is currently being translated into Arabic.

The English translation of Da is available for purchase on Amazon and several bookstores across the United States.
