Over 14 artists from 13 countries in addition to local artists are participating in the 7th Tehran International Sculpture Symposium at Milad Tower.

Commending artists and the “vivacious atmosphere of the venue which is the most absorbing aspect of the event,” Ali Moradkhani, art deputy at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, said the participants have created “small-scale cultural diplomacy,” Honaronline reported.

“Such competitions will provide an opportunity for Iranian artists to be introduced globally and promote the art sector.”

Moradkhani hoped the sculptures would be used in urban beautification projects.

The ministry should collaborate with the Tehran Beautification Organization in installation of selected sculptures in urban spaces, so that people “make a closer connection with the city through art,” said Majid Mollanorouzi, head of the Visual Art Office.

Separate workshops for metal and stone sculptures will display the artworks until October 16.
