The Museum of Dolls in Tehran has invited local and international doll makers and puppeteers to participate in the exhibition ‘Peace, Difference, Similarity’ on the occasion of the International Day of Peace (September 21).
The event aims to introduce diverse cultures of foreign and domestic tribes and nomads via puppets to create a strong foundation of friendship between artists from Iran and other nations, Mehr News Agency reports.
Artists should display puppets and dolls featuring cultural, linguistic, ethnic, social and religious aspects and can also portray vulnerable social groups such as the disabled, refugees, homeless, religious and ethnic minorities and child labor and abused women in their themes.
Tribal doll art, shadow puppets, hand puppets and marionettes will be welcomed.
Museum experts will select the best puppets for display. The items will also be exhibited at a mobile exhibition that will tour different cities in Iran after the event.
Three best puppets will be awarded a commendation plaque and silver medals. The International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day is dedicated to world peace and specifically the absence of war and violence. The day was first observed in 1982.
The museum is located at no. 4, Negarestan 5 (Haj Hadi) street, Pasdaran.
