Penelope Cruz will star in a new film by renowned Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, which is to be produced by Spanish filmmakers and brothers Pedro and Agustin Almodovar.

The project, the title has not been announced yet, will be shot in Spain in the autumn of 2016, Spanish film blog reported.

Farhadi and Pedro Almodovar have an excellent relationship of four years, when they shared nomination in several international awards for ‘A separation’ and ‘The Skin I Live in’, respectively.

Farhadi won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language film for ‘A Separation’ in 2011.

There are no details on the new production yet, but both American and Spanish actors will be cast in the movie.

Apparently Cruz did not hesitate to announce her eagerness to participate in the film after reading the script.

Cruz, 41, is a Spanish actress who has appeared in many films in a range of genres. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2008 for her role in ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’. She was the first Spanish actress in history to receive an Academy Award.

Pedro Almodovar, 65, is one of the most internationally-successful Spanish filmmakers whose films have gained worldwide interest. He won the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film for the comedy-drama ‘All About My Mother’ (1999) and the Best Original Screenplay for the drama ‘Talk to Her’ (2002).
