The world famous Japanese musician/composer Kitaro arrived in Tehran Monday.

After a long flight which took more than 20 hours, Kitaro arrived at Imam Khomeini International Airport, together with his wife, main agent, and technical group, and was officially welcomed by the director of music office at the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance Pirooz Arjmand, MNA reported.

Joy was writ large on Kitaro’s face, as he is visiting Iran for the first time. “As I said before, my heart beats for such a visit. Hearing that all the concert tickets have been sold, I cannot wait to experience the excitement with the Iranian audience. I am sure it will be a pleasant one,” he stated.

He said he is inclined to listen to Persian music “as there is a lot to find in it” and expressed hope to have the opportunity to interact with Iranian musicians during his time here.

Most of the Iranians know Kitaro for the beautiful music he made for the documentary ‘The Silk Road’. The young generation in the country has got familiar with the New Age music through Kitaro’s works as he is a pioneer in this style, Arjmand said.
