Online broadcasting of the series ‘Dandoon Tala’ (literally, golden tooth) directed by Davood Mirbaqeri is available besides its release in the home video network.

Producer Mehran Boroumand said the online broadcast aims to prevent illegal downloads common in virtual space. “Today, several websites ignore copyright and provide illegal access to serials and films, a major concern of the film industry,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying.

Online access will also meet the demand of expatriates for Iranian films. The film can be downloaded online at a small price and payment can be made through bank accounts in any of the national banks,” Boroumand said.

In the near future, digital screens will replace the big screen and people will be able to watch their favorite shows on tablets or smart phones.

The story unravels in a slum in Tehran’s outlying areas, with a girl Nayyer clashing with a police officer for crossing the road median. She takes refuge in a cafe, where she meets some destitute people. The owner of the cafe, Ghanbar Dizel, known as ‘Dandoon Tala’, provides her shelter.

The production of all episodes of the series is completed and final edition is in progress. The cast for the series includes well-known TV and cinema actors Mehdi Fakhimzadeh, Hamed Behdad, Baran Kosari, Setareh Eskandari and Sirous Gorjestani.

The series is based on a play under the same title directed by Mirbaqeri, staged in 2009 at Tehran City Theatre Hall. Setareh Eskandari and Sirous Gorjestani, among the series cast, had acted in the original popular theatre show.

Mirbaqeri said he had decided to make his other plays, including ‘Eshgh Abad’ (literally, city of love), into a mini-series, “as soon as the opportunity arises.”

Born in Shahrud, Semnan Province, Mirbaqeri, 57, is a screen writer and film director who has two plays, five films and eight series in his resume. The comedy ‘Snowman’ (1994) and TV series Imam Ali (AS) and Mokhtarnameh are among his best works. He recently directed and produced his first series ‘Shahgoosh’ for the home video network.
