Iranian Qur’an master Abdul-Rasul Abayi will be a member of the panel of judges in Indonesia’s International Holy Qur’an competition.

Abayi told IQNA that he has received an official invitation from the organizers to judge the contest.

He pointed out that he had also participated in the first edition of the contest as a judge 13 years ago.

The event is slated for August 30-September 5, in Jakarta.

Born in Karbala, Iraq, Abayi, 70, is a university professor who has judged international Qur’an competitions in Iran, Malaysia, Indonesia and Syria. He has also published articles in the field.

Iran will be represented by Mahmoud Noruzi and Javad Soleimani, in the memorization of the entire Qur’an and recitation categories, respectively.
