The sixth National Screenwriting Competition for Children and Young Adults has called for entries for the 29th International Children’s Film Festival, slated for October 2-7.

Screenplays can be original works or adaptations from existing pieces of writing, and are the most important and creative part in the process of filmmaking. The event aims at selecting scripts for children and the youth.

Observing local and national cinematic elements in text and content are the terms for the contest.

Knowledge of Persian literature and stories is essential to write the screenplays “to help the rich Iranian culture develop through promotion of fantasy and imagination in children’s cinema,” Mehr News Agency reported.

Plots and texts should be original and adaptations should mention the original title and name of the author and translator.

The Institute of Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) will confer a special prize to selected screenplays adapted from the books published by the institute. Additionally, the Farabi Cinema Foundation will support the best screenplay for production.

Those interested should submit their works prior to August 20. The registration forms and information is avilable online at http://icff.ir.
