Iranian theatre director and photographer, Parinaz Aleagha made her way to the Fifth Annual Exposure Photography Award, at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

The only entry from Iran, she competed with her black and white photo of the theatre show ‘Butterflyness’, ISNA reported.

“The hidden message of the image is a sort of demand or quest,” Aleagha said, adding that the work is one of her favorites.

There are only three editions of the photo, two of which were sold at her solo exhibition held in fall 2014.

A freelance photographer and theatre director, Aleagha, 36, has a master’s degree in theatre direction and is a member of the Iranian Photojournalists’ Association.

The award is the world’s largest celebration of photography, hosted by different countries annually. This year’s edition saw submissions of photos taken in the past five years from 191 counties. All types of digital and film photography, including fashion, landscape, travel, candid, digitally manipulated, artistic-conceptual and self-portraits are among the photos submitted, and viewed by three millions visitors.

The event opened last month and will run through August 13.
