Movies and cinematic works presented to the Third Festival of Technology & Industrial Film & Photography ‘Farda’ (Tomorrow) stand a good chance to be shown on TV channels, said Parviz Karami, advisor to the vice president for scientific and technology affairs, following the signing of a MoU with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Karami, who is also a member of the festival policymaking council, said the MoU seeks cultural expansion, extension of science and technology cooperation and support to domestic production, ISNA reported.

The festival’s slogan “Self confidence, domestic production and illustrating Iran development,” is organized by the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR) and supported by the Office of the Vice President for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Trade. The event coincides with the anniversary of the establishment of ACECR.

Karami said advertisement and introduction of science-based companies and domestic products are one of the objectives of the agreement, and hoped that the films presented to the festival would get approval to be broadcast on national TV.

Stressing the importance of promoting and publicizing science and technology, he said: “Iran enjoys high status in scientific production both in the region and the world, as per reports of international scientific organizations.” Unfortunately, promotion  of the achievements is weak.

Industrial film festivals should contribute to science promotion and holding the event is a positive step. “The Farda festival (July 29-31) not only showcases our potential but also contributes to quality improvement, encouraging artists and filmmakers to enter the field,” he said.
