300 Iranian Publishers at Frankfurt Fair

Iran will participate in the 33rd Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF) with more than 500 books from some 300 publishers.

Close to 250 children’s books, 70 titles on sacred defense, 50 on the Islamic Revolution, and 180 by Tehran Union of Publishers will be exhibited in this year’s edition, director of International Book Fairs Institute Amir-Masoud Shahramnia said.

Noting that five books will be unveiled during the five-day event, Shahramnia said that some 18 programs are also on the agenda of the Iranian pavilion on the sidelines of the book exhibition.

He further said the fair will provide an opportunity for Iranian publishers to hold talks with their foreign counterparts.

Holding specialized meetings on economic opportunities of the publishing sector in Iran and reviewing talents and capabilities of children and young adult literature for globalization are among other programs of the Iranian pavilion at the event, organized by the German Union of Publishers.

 Adult and Children Sections

“We have a 200-square meter stall in the adult books section and a smaller booth of 40 square meters in the children’s books section”, Shahramnia, who is also the managing director of Iran Cultural Fairs Institute stated.

There are various organizations active in the field of book publication in Iran, all trying to step into the international arena to make Iranian and Persian literature known to the world.

As a specialized event, the FBF will be open to the public only on the two final days.

All the books in Persian language will be summarized in English and published as a single booklet to be presented to the visitors.

The FBF is the world’s largest trade fair for books, based on the number of publishing companies represented, as well as visitors. As an annual exhibition, it will be held from October 8 to 12 in Frankfurt, Germany.
